Key Quotes From the Episode:

[13:31] [On the threat of Automation] To everyone that is facing the threat of automation is to say, be involved, get part of it, and then you can say ‘Be the Change’, rather than just standing there waiting for someone else to come take away your job

[18:26] [On making time for business partnering] If you left tomorrow, what would happen in most cases- not much. IF you stop sending the top ten weekly reports you send on a weekly basis tomorrow, what would happen- not that much……..Once I have that realisation, you can say, what am I doing today versus what should I be doing on the basis of making concrete what business partnering is

[22:08] [On progressing transformation] If they continue to go back after the training and say I am going to spend two thirds of my time doing daily reports and analysis, then we are not progressing the transformation. If the leader does not go back and ask “How do I create the plan”, to say two thirds of my time should be spent on sharing insights, making recommendations and actually creating an impact on the business- they don’t go and make this plan- it doesn’t matter whatever we have done from a structural perspective.

[22:56] [On leaders in transformation] If there’s one thing you need to do different tomorrow (and I am mainly speaking to leaders here), it is to take ownership of transformation. Don’t wait for someone to tell you how to do it. If you don’t take ownership, someone else will, and this is your foremost role as a leader.

[28:49] [On going beyond a digital strategy] What most companies still haven’t well is to figure out that digital is not an end goal- digital is an enabler of something you want to achieve: so digital can never be your strategy.
